Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 3, 2026
Welcome to Crimson Music. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use our mobile application, including our core offline player and our optional cloud-based community features.
It is important to note that by default, Crimson Music does not collect any Personal Data. Personal information is only processed if and when you explicitly choose to use our optional Account, Leaderboard, or Cloud Sync features.
1. Local-First Philosophy
Crimson Music is primarily an offline local player.
- Your Music stays yours: Neither we nor any third party can access or view your personal music files or playback history.
- Local Storage: All songs you play or manage through the app are stored locally on your device.
- No Uploading: We do not upload your music library to any servers unless you explicitly enable the optional Cloud Sync feature.
2. Optional Account & Identity
We have introduced features that allow you to engage with the global community and secure your data:
- Authentication: If you use the Global Rankings or Cloud Sync, we use Google Sign-In (Firebase Auth) to verify your identity. We receive your email address and public profile information (name and photo).
- Global Leaderboard: If you participate in rankings, your chosen display name and total play counts are stored in our secure database (Firebase Firestore) and are visible to other users.
3. Cloud Backup & Sync Tiers
To help you retain your music library "legacy," we offer two methods of data synchronization:
- Google Drive (Free/Manual): You can create a manual snapshot of your playlists and stats. This data is stored in your personal Google Drive "App Data" folder, which remains private to you and inaccessible to us.
- Firebase Auto-Sync (Premium): Your playlists, favorites, and statistics are automatically synced to our secure servers, allowing you to access your library on any device.
4. In-App Purchases
Payments for Crimson Premium are processed entirely by the Google Play Billing system. We do not have access to, nor do we store, your credit card, bank account, or other financial information. We only receive a transaction token to verify your purchase and maintain your premium status.
5. Device Permissions
To provide a premium music experience, our app requests the following permissions:
- Music & Audio: Necessary to find and play audio files stored on your device.
- Storage: Required on older Android versions to access local media and custom background images.
- Notifications: To display playback controls on your lock screen and provide system status alerts.
- Bluetooth: To manage audio quality and connection settings for your headsets and speakers.
6. Data Collection & Use (Non-Personal)
To improve app performance and user experience, we may collect anonymous interaction data, including:
- App settings and theme preferences.
- Feature usage (e.g., use of the Equalizer or Crossfade).
- Device information: Hardware model, OS version, advertising identifiers, language, and time zone.
Feedback Information
When you submit feedback via email, we may receive your email address and device status information (app version, OS version) solely to help us address your technical issues.
7. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party partners to support our service. Each provider handles data according to their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase: Used for secure authentication and leaderboard hosting. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Appodeal: Our primary advertisement mediation partner. Appodeal Privacy Policy
- Google AdMob: Used to serve relevant advertisements to non-premium users. Google Privacy Policy
8. Data Retention & Control
Usage and feedback information are retained only as long as necessary to fulfill improvements. You have full control over your cloud data: you can sign out at any time to stop synchronization, and you can contact us to request the deletion of your leaderboard record.
9. Your Rights (EU & California)
Users in the EU (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA) have specific rights regarding their data, including the right to access, delete, or restrict processing. Since the core app remains offline, most of these rights are naturally protected as your data stays local. For cloud features, we provide tools to manage and remove your information.
10. Children's Privacy
Crimson Music does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with any information, please contact us immediately.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features. We recommend reviewing this page periodically for any changes.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us at: crimson1446@gmail.com.
